Second time doing breakfast at Colorado Springs. Urban egg lies in downtown, delivering some nice city views, tall buildings, and urban art. The place was nice and spacious. The service was very friendly and quick. Abby helped us choose a few items in the menu because the list of goodness is long. And she had a great recommendation to give. We got the huevos rancheros, the chicken and waffle, Fred's Hawaiian pancake (just one), and a side of applewood smoked bacon. The chicken and waffle had a spicy and tingly Nashville hot sauce that was a nice addition of mild heat. The rancheros had a crispy tortilla at the bottom topped with green, red, and an avocado cream sauces that gave a simple dish a nice complexity of flavors. With just a nice hint of sweetness and chunks of pineapple, the pancake was amazing! The bacon was sweet and nice, but it needed to be either crispier or thicker for it to be perfect. Overall, another regional chain that has all the things to enjoy a nice breakfast.

We went here in 2022 right after we got eloped in Garden of the Gods. The staff asked why we were so dressed up and when we told them they brought out our pancakes with a candle on top. It was so sweet and made the day extra special. So now we come back every year!

I'm not generally a fan of sit down breakfast places in Colorado Springs, so I approached this place with some skepticism. We left the Labor Day ballon festival hungry and decided to check it out. We got on the waitlist online (top tip!) and it was about an hour wait on a Sunday Labor Day weekend. The interior was nice, a bit upscale and clean. We decided to start with the cinnamon rolls. These are made with pastry dough and come with cream cheese frosting and bacon chunks. Texture was great, but a bjt too sweet for me. The rest of the table loved them. For my main i had huevos rancheros. VERY good. The tortilla was crunchy. The eggs were fluffy. The green chili was spicy. Need i say more? Yes, i shall. Topped with crunchy radish slices, pickles onions, and near perfect black beans, it was the best rancheros I've had in recent memory. Go. Try it all. You will be glad you did.

Second trip confirmed that urban egg is a banger. Loved our meals again! I tried something different this time with the omelette and hash browns and just did a single blueberry streusel pancake which was my fav from the flight last time. I would go back to the eggs and ham next time but the omelette was pretty standard and wasn't oily which I appreciated! The hashbrowns were bomb! We both loved them. And the streusel again was amazing! My husband said one of the best breakfasts he's ever had. He ordered the chicken and the egg and added a biscuit. The biscuit alone wasn't that impressive but the sausage was super good. All so good!

We came in around 12:30 on a Saturday... there was about a 40 minute wait. I told the two hostesses that we would gladly sit at the bar if that would speed up seating. I also made a note of this when I added our name to the Yelp waiting list that they use. There was not space for our party of two at the time, but the hostess indicated we could do that when space opened up. A man came in about ten minutes later , talked to the hostess, and was immediately seated at the bar. There was now space available for us, but nothing from the hostess. After waiting an additional ten minutes, my husband asked again if we could sit at the bar and we were seated. The bartender was incredible... nice, attentive, etc. After seeing other people get their food and 25 minutes, the bartender suggested she go check on our food. We suspected it had been in the window for a while as it was not hot. They brought half of my food excluding the pancake which they brought about ten minutes later. All of the food was delicious, but the service was lacking especially in light of the fact that it was not terribly busy ( empty tables). We aren't from the area, so returning isn't likely... but we would return for the food and hope for better service if we were in the area again:)

Visited Colorado Springs this past weekend and we stayed in downtown. Our flight wasn't until later afternoon so we decided to find a place in downtown and walk for brunch. So glad we used Yelp and found Urban Egg. First, I love that they have Yelp waitlist!! It's crazy that this place seemed to be the only popular breakfast place around; maybe the only? I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and they were delicious!!! Loved the blue corn tortilla! And the over easy eggs I got were great. I also asked for the avocado crema on the side but on it would've been fine. It's so amazing!! I could eat it alone! The waitress was very attentive and nice and filled my coffee cup up. And I loved that they have mini booths which seat two which is so cute and perfect. They also have tables but you are just a party of two, I feel it makes things go fast. Highly recommend Urban Egg if you're in Colorado Springs!
